My friend Joselyn flew into Las Vegas from Florida to spend a week camping with me. We went to Sedona, but stopped for 1 night in Williams, AZ on the way. This photo was taken at a vista overlooking Lake Mead.
This guy greeted us on our way into Williams on Historic Route 66.
The town is named after Bill Williams, a mountain man, guide and trapper who explored this region in the 1820s.
The mountain in the background is named after him too.
We stayed at the Grand Canyon Railroad Station RV Park, best known for the excursion train ride from here to the South Rim. There are many photo ops outside the station.
Inside the old station. The other end has a gift shop, ticket sales, etc.
The RV park is within walking distance of old Rte 66, so we toured the town on foot that afternoon.
Lots of Route 66 memorabilia available.
This is a mural on one of the buildings.
Carved support posts on this storefront.
More murals....Grand Canyon

We ate at Cruiser's Diner, converted from an old gas station. Elvis was outside.
Cruiser's gas station decor.
And gas prices from the days.

Outside Cruiser's.

Good and plentiful diner food....Pulled pork sandwich, cole slaw and beans.
Walking around town. Historical markers on the buildings tell what they used to be. Now most are gift shops or restaurants.
Another mural.
No bail money was needed.
Lots of classic cars around town. Some were being driven and others were parked like this one with dummies inside.
Another way to tour the town.
Another classic.
Sunset in Williams, a fun stop.
